“About the mountain itself”

If you have a taste of mountaineering, this is perhaps the best place to enjoy the mountainous nature around Tehran. Being the closest to the capital Tehran, reaching to nearly 4000m, incorporating various features of mountainous areas, overlooking all the capital city, wide range of activities such as skiing, trekking, rock climbing, camping, picnic, chair lifting, etc, the Tochal mountain is one of the most popular places in Tehran region. You can choose between heaps of treks from east to west with various hardness levels and distance to reach the summit. It is pretty hot and dry during the summer so if you are planning for a long trek, it is wise to carry lots of water because the rivers are not good to drink from. There are a few shelters in different treks but not all have water supply. The shortest way is from Darband town which takes you normally 12-14 hrs to the peak and return if you are fit enough.
